State representatives refuse expanded Medicaid
Obamacare does not provide insurance to everyone. Undocumented immigrants and those eligible for Medicare and Medicaid are not covered under Obamacare.
In 2010, the Affordable care Act created Obamacare and provided for an expansion of Medicaid. Medicaid eligibility is broadened to insure more poor people than before. The expanded Medicaid insurance will be funded by the federal government.
The new law provides for states to administer the new insurance. But somehow our North Carolina state legislature has blocked the change altogether.
North Carolina is one of the poorest states with one of the largest populations of people living at or below poverty level. Yet our very own state senators and representatives refuse expanded Medicaid coverage to our most vulnerable citizens.
