Only Medicaid Plan in Pennsylvania to Earn Highest Accreditation
Status of Excellent

Health Partners Plans (HPP), a Pennsylvania-based managed care
organization, announced that as of September 26, 2017, its Medicaid plan
is among 11 Medicaid plans nationwide awarded an accreditation status of
excellent. This is the highest status bestowed by the National Committee
for Quality Assurance (NCQA). HPP is also the only Medicaid plan in
Pennsylvania to have earned an excellent accreditation status by NCQA,
the most widely-recognized accreditation program in the country.

NCQA only awards its highest status of excellent to organizations with
exceptional service and clinical quality programs that meet or exceed
its rigorous requirements for consumer protection and quality
improvement. Its evaluation process assesses the quality of health care
provided to consumers, giving them the ability to make decisions about
health plans based on extensive criteria that focus on demonstrated
value.

“It is partly a health plan’s members that determine whether it earns
NCQA’s Excellent Accreditation status,” said NCQA President Margaret E.
O’Kane. “Any plan that does so should be proud of its accomplishment. It
is a sign that the plan’s delivering great service and great care—it’s
met the toughest test in managed care.”

“We are extremely proud to receive this recognition from NCQA as one of
just 11 Medicaid plans in the country to have achieved this milestone,”
said President and CEO William S. George. “Our excellent accreditation
status affirms our continued commitment to Pennsylvanians to deliver
high-quality care through innovative programs that improve health
outcomes for our members.”

The excellent accreditation status also means HPP’s Medicaid plan is
among the highest in national performance for NCQA’s Healthcare
Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) and NCQA’s Consumer
Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS®). HEDIS® is the
most widely used performance measurement in health care while CAHPS®
evaluates consumer satisfaction.

NCQA’s Accreditation is the most comprehensive evaluation in the
industry, satisfying not only regulatory demands but also consumer
expectations. It is the only assessment that bases results on both
clinical performance and consumer experience and evaluates how well a
plan manages its physicians, hospitals, other providers and
administrative services. For more information, visit www.ncqa.org.
