Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office News Release • October 20, 2017 • Sgt. K. Suthard, PIO
(Reidsville, NC) – Rockingham County Health and Human Services Director Felissa Ferrell has notified the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Department of a possible Medicaid scam in the Reidsville area.
The Division of Social Services and Aging, Disability and Transit Services (ADTS) received several calls on Thursday, October 19, 2017, from individuals reporting that two men had approached them asking them specific information about a Medicaid Program.
The Medicaid Program in question is CAP-DA (Community Alternatives Program for Disabled Adults). This program primarily serves individuals with more chronic health conditions.
Apparently, they are claiming to be “investigating” if the PCS/aides of the program are doing the work, the time sheets, etc. Ms. Ferrell has confirmed with the NC DHHS/DMA that no such investigation exists and that these individuals claims are fraudulent.
Anyone who is approached by any individuals asking questions about the CAP-DA Medicaid Program should NOT GIVE ANY INFORMATION and CALL 9-1-1 IMMEDIATELY
Sheriff Page wants to remind citizens that it is always a good rule of thumb not to disclose any information to ANYONE without first checking their credentials. Then, get phone numbers and verify their information. If they are legitimate, they will have credentials to prove it and will provide them upon request.
The individuals approached on Thursday, October 19, 2017, were in the City limits of Reidsville.
