BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
A newly released audit report shows the Louisiana Department of Health paid more than $940,000 in fees for Medicaid recipients who no longer live in the state. In fact, according to the Legislative Auditor, there could have been more than $2.4 million paid out in error between 2012 and 2016. Auditors found weaknesses in the system that include Medicaid recipients not notifying Medicaid of changes, as well as a lack of follow-up by Medicaid on returned mail. Copyright 2016 WAFB.
