Delaware awarded three insurers statewide Medicaid contracts on Tuesday.

AmeriHealth Caritas, Centene and Highmark Health were selected to provide care to about 300,000 Delaware residents.

Highmark and AmeriHealth were already managed care providers in the state.

The award means Centene will enter its 30th state, expanding its reach as the nation’s largest Medicaid managed care provider, the St. Louis-based insurer said Tuesday.

The three managed care organizations will provide statewide services that include physical and behavioral health and long-term care services, according to Centene.

Open enrollment will begin in October and coverage under the statewide managed care program will begin in 2023.
