Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad has touted the extra benefits under the state’s privatized Medicaid program as proof the system functions better than the former state-run setup. However, six months into the program, the Iowa Department of Human Services, which oversees Medicaid, is collecting little data about how many people have used these services and no information about whether they are effective.
