LINCOLN — Nebraska is again turning to a private national search firm to help find a new state Medicaid director.

Gov. Pete Ricketts and Courtney Phillips, the state Department of Health and Human Services CEO, said Friday that they have engaged Ford Webb Associates to assist with their search.

State officials used the same company previously to hire Phillips and Calder Lynch, the former director of the HHS Division of Medicaid and Long-Term Care Services.

Lynch resigned in May to take a job with the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Thomas “Rocky” Thompson, Medicaid deputy director for policy and communications, is serving as interim Medicaid director.

Phillips noted that, in addition to Nebraska, 10 other states and one territory also are trying to recruit Medicaid directors.
