The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services could owe the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services up to $32 million in reimbursements for provider payments that were not allowed over a two-year period. HHS spokeswoman Leah Bucco-White said the department is working closely with providers of developmental disabilities services and the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to begin a claims review of services provided within the Home and Community-Based Services waiver program, paid with both federal and state funds.The review is expected to take a couple of months, said Bucco-White.
The department is talking to the Nebraska Association of Service Providers about how to go forward with payments for services in the next few months that are not allowed by federal Medicaid.
