FRANKFORT Congressman John Yarmuth, D-Louisville, is pleading with Republican Gov. Matt Bevin to withdraw the state’s request for a Medicaid waiver to cover the expanded Medicaid population of about 440,000 in Kentucky.Yarmuth, the sole Democrat in Kentucky’s congressional delegation, delivered a letter to Bevin on Tuesday in which he wrote that “there is no longer room for doubt. Kentucky’s request will be denied.”At a press conference in the Capitol Rotunda a few minutes later, Yarmuth said he has discussed the waiver with Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and “there is no chance” CMS will approve Bevin’s plan.
