BOISE, Idaho (AP) –

Idaho’s legislative leaders have assigned their summer homework by finalizing a list of hot button topics for Idaho lawmakers to review over the next few months.

Top legislative officials approved the interim committees on Friday. The panels will meet over the summer and provide recommendations to lawmakers during next year’s legislative session.

This includes appointing 10 lawmakers to find ways on how to provide health insurance for citizens who don’t qualify for Medicaid. Addressing the estimated 78,000 Idahoans currently caught in the so-called Medicaid gap became a key issue during the 2016 legislative session, but lawmakers adjourned after failing to find a solution.

Other panels will focus on Idaho’s faith healing laws, foster care and public school funding.
