WESTMORELAND, Kan. (WIBW) — A Junction City woman will have to pay back almost $4,000 after false claims of taking care of her mother.

Elizabeth Joyce, 22, pleaded guilty to a count of making a false claim and one count of theft. She was ordered to pay back $3,870.31 to the Kansas Medicaid Program and sentenced to 12 months of probation.

Joyce claimed she was providing personal care attendant home based services to her mother. However, she was actually clocked in and working for other employers. The money she earned through her claims were placed into a joint-account owned by Joyce and her mother.

The crimes, committed between October 2015 and July 2016, were investigated by the Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Division.
