Centene Corp. said Monday that it was awarded a new Medicaid contract in the state of Nevada. Centene’s subsidiary in Nevada, Silver Summit Health Plan, will insure some of Nevada’s low-income residents for a term of four years, beginning in July 2017, pending other regulatory approvals, the company said Monday.
“We are pleased to be selected to serve Medicaid beneficiaries in Nevada, which will be Centene’s 29th state with health plan operations,” Michael Neidorff, chairman and CEO, said in a statement.There are currently 400,000 enrollees in Nevada’s Medicaid managed care program. States contract out managing the health care of their low-income residents to companies like Centene.
And starting in 2018, Centene it said it would offer an exchange plan in Clark and Washoe counties in Nevada. Centene has previously said it’s interested in offering exchange plans in states where the company already has a Medicaid presence.
