A Melbourne woman illegally obtained $9,590 in fraudulent food stamp benefits and Medicaid benefits since June 2015, the Florida Department of Financial Services reported.

Shauna Ross, 32, was arrested Friday in Cocoa for obtaining public assistance by fraud. She posted $2,000 bond and was released from the Brevard County Jail Complex prior to her Saturday initial court appearance.

Ross failed to report and under-reported her income with Hospice of Health First to the Department of Financial Services, according to an affidavit filed by one of the agency’s public assistance fraud investigators.

Ross and/or her dependents received $8,330 in excessive food stamp benefits and $1,260 in excessive Medicaid benefits, the complaint states.

Her next court date had not been scheduled by Sunday morning.
